SUMMER FUN FOR ADULTS, TEENS, & KIDS

Registration for all programs begins the last week of May.

You must be registered to be eligible to win prizes.

RULES FOR 
ADULT SUMMER READING

  1. YOU MUST FIRST REGISTER AT THE FRONT DESK TO PARTICIPATE
  2. YOU CAN READ ANY BOOK, AUDIOBOOK, OR MAGAZINE.
  3. YOU MUST LOG EACH TITLE THAT YOU READ IN YOUR SUMMER READING LOG
  4. YOU MUST BRING YOUR LOG TO THE FRONT DESK AT THE LIBRARY TO RECEIVE ENTRY FORMS FOR THE WEEKLY DRAWINGS.
  5. YOU GET TO FILL OUT 1 ENTRY FORM PER TITLE FOR THE WEEKLY DRAWING.
  6. YOU CAN EARN EXTRA ENTRIES BY ATTENDING ANY LIBRARY EVENT OR PROGRAM DURING THE SUMMER
  7. ALL OF YOUR PREVIOUS ENTRIES WILL CARRY OVER FROM WEEK TO WEEK.
  8. DRAWINGS ARE HELD EACH WEEK ON FRIDAYS, JUNE 9 - JULY 14

RULES FOR
TEEN SUMMER READING

ALL PRIZES ARE WON ON A RAFFLE SYSTEM, SO IT'S UP TO YOU.  YOU CAN DO AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS YOU WANT. PUT YOUR RAFFLE SLIPS IN THE PRIZE VASE OF YOUR CHOICE.
EARN RAFFLE SLIPS BY:

  • READING (EVERYTHING WITH A TITLE COUNTS!)
  • DAILY TRIVIA QUESTION
  • EARNING A BINGO
  • ATTENDING SUMMER READING TEEN EVENTS
  • DONATING TO THE RICHLAND COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY DONATION DRIVE

*PRIZES WILL BE DRAWN AT THE JULY 17TH EVENT

RULES FOR
CHILDREN'S SUMMER READING

SUMMER READING REQUIREMENTS:

15 PICTURE BOOKS
OR
5 CHAPTER BOOKS
OR A COMBINATION OF THE TWO (3 PICTURE BOOKS = 1 CHAPTER BOOK)

RECORD YOUR BOOKS ON THE READING LOG PROVIDED.  RETURN IT TO THE LIBRARY ONCE THE REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN MET.

WHEN READING LOGS ARE RETURNED, YOU GET A CERTIFICATE, STATE FAIR COUPONS, PARKS COUPONS, AND A FREE BOOK OF YOUR CHOICE.  YOUR NAME IS THEN ADDED TO THE BUCKET FOR OUR BIG PRIZES.

YOUR READING LOG MUST BE RETURNED IN ORDER TO RECEIVE YOUR FREE BOOK AND BE ELIGIBLE FOR OTHER PRIZES.

THERE WILL BE A SUMMER READING ESSAY CONTEST (OPTIONAL). THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO WIN AN EXTRA PRIZE.
TOPIC:  HOW WILL YOU BUILD A BETTER WORLD?  TELL US WHAT YOU WILL DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

RULES FOR SUMMER READING ESSAY CONTEST (AGES KINDERGARTEN - 12th GRADE):

  • A LIST OF SOURCES MUST BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR ESSAY THIS YEAR.  SOURCES ARE ANY BOOKS OR ARTICLES THAT INSPIRED OR INFORMED YOUR ESSAY
  • ESSAYS CAN BE TYPED OR HANDWRITTEN.  EITHER WAY, MAKE SURE THE COVER SHEET WITH YOUR NAME, AGE, AND GRADE IN THE FALL IS ATTACHED.
  • TO BE CONSIDERED ALL ESSAYS MUST BE HANDED IN BY THE TIME THE LIBRARY CLOSES AT 8 PM ON THURSDAY JULY 20TH, IN PAPER FORMAT. EMAILED SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
